Flat Design Inspired

Flat Design has taken hold of designers and has been used on device interfaces, websites, and apps. Windows has already been a big player in the Flat Design movement and now Apple has stepped up to the plate with their new iOS 7. It’s everywhere now.

With the roll out of the new iOS 7, flat design is definitely here to stay, at least for a little while, with good reason. Drawing from Swiss, International design, and even minimalism, Flat UI Design uses simple flat shapes with bright somewhat retroish colors and simple typography to create clear bold designs.

The great thing about Swiss design was their desire to create universally understood designs that were simple with clear visual language. These graphic designers, such as Joseph Mueller-Brockmann and Max Huber, removed unnecessary ornamentation from their designs and fought for organization and simplicity. “Form follows Function”. Flat Design puts these qualities to work by creating fresh looking simple designs and enhancing user experience with clear direction.

Here’s a small collection of Flat Design inspiration, as well as a few historical references that are too good to leave out!
