Cheers to Charity

Everyone has that one celebrity that they feel like they actually know. Whether it’s due to the character they play on TV or their witty sense of humor in interviews, we can all relate to someone that we may not actually have relation to. In Atlanta, we have Frank Ski …radio personality, restaurateur and philanthropist. Frank has done so much in and for his community over the years that he has earned the respect of the city, and rightfully so. Annually Frank throws his Celebrity Wine Tasting and Live Auction that benefits his Frank Ski Kids Foundation. Combining his love for wine and charity, Ski brings together celebrities (that he actually knows) and fabulous auction items to throw one of the biggest social events of the year.

This year marks the 9th year that Frank Ski will throw his fundraiser and he is pulling out all the stops. The guest list is hush-hush for now, but past attendees have included Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, Mayor Kasim Reed, Young Jeezy and Martin Luther King III to name a few. Not so secret is the tag team of Hollywood elite set to host. Actor Boris Kodjoe and his actress wife Nicole Ari Parker will co host with former Def Jam CEO Kevin Liles and wife Erika. The couples will share the honor of guiding guests through Ski’s signature wine tasting and live auction. The wine tasting will feature rare and vintage varieties such as Silver Oak and Opus One. The live auction boasts only the best with some auctioned pieces from the past being authentic sports memorabilia, a chestnut Arabian horse and an exclusive VIP wine tour and dinner in Napa Valley, CA. All proceeds from the auction and wine tasting go to further support the Frank Ski Kids Foundation.

Now being a celebrity isn’t a requirement to attend, but it definitely doesn’t hurt. Anyone that cares about raising funds to help continue positive change within the community is invited to partake in the soiree. The Frank Ski Kids Foundation is an opportunity to provide children with the necessary education and hands-on experiences vital to furthering their ambitions. The foundation is not only responsible for hosting the swanky wine tasting and live auction, but also Ski’s annual “Youth Bowl” football game and awarding scholarship money to university bound students. This year’s sponsors Carrabba’s Italian Grill, State Farm Insurance, Fisker Automotive, V-103 and Peachtree Communities not only understand, but share Frank’s compassion for uplifting our youth. Over the 8 years of the event, an estimated $1 million has been raised allowing Frank Ski to continue to promote change and make a significant, observable difference in the lives of our future.
