The Bert Show Helps Child’s Dream Come True with One-Day Contract to Atlanta Hawks

On Tuesday, April 7th, The Bert Show provided a young Atlanta Hawks fan battling Acute Myeloid Leukemia an opportunity of a lifetime: to become a NBA player for a day. A VIP evening presented by the Atlanta Hawks began with a press conference including Head Coach Mike Budenholzer and eight-year-old Lake Bozman of Kennesaw, Georgia, featuring an official signing of a one-day contract and presentation of a custom jersey making him an official member of the team.

Upon arriving to Philips Arena for an evening of festivities with the team, Lake and family were given the VIP experience courtesy of the Atlanta Hawks including private transportation service to-and-from the game by Cooper Global, attendance at the official team warm-up where he met all of the players, a tour of the locker room, and court-side seats to the game. He was also gifted a pair of custom, not-for-sale shoes belonging to his favorite player, Jeff Teague.

Lake was able to provide some extra luck to the team, leading them to victory over the Phoenix Suns 96-69, setting a franchise record with their 58th win and receiving a special mention from Head Coach Budenholzer during the post-game press conference.

Lake Bozman was chosen to be one of 14 participants in this year’s annual trip to Walt Disney World as part of Bert’s Big Adventure. Bert’s Big Adventure is a nonprofit organization that provides a magical, all-expenses-paid, five-day journey to Walt Disney World® for children with chronic and terminal illnesses and their families.
