Thanksgiving Traditions

“Thanksgiving dinners take eighteen hours to prepare. They are consumed in twelve minutes. Half-times take twelve minutes. This is not coincidence.” – Erma Bombeck

Every November, we eagerly begin our countdown to one of the most highly anticipated holidays of the year: Thanksgiving. By providing us with a sense of gratitude, comfort and even warmth (despite the dropping temperatures), Thanksgiving brings family and friends together for a full day of good food, great memories, and, of course, our favorite treasured traditions. From family eating contests to NFL football and tofu pies to The National Dog Show, everyone has their own set of special Thanksgiving traditions that they look forward to the most each year. This year, the Premier team has decided to share some of our favorite things about this holiday of gratitude:

Mandy:

“I love how Thanksgiving brings everyone together over a fantastic homemade meal. The gathering of family, the annual dishes that you only eat at Thanksgiving and the remembrance of being grateful.”

Justin:

“My favorite thing about Thanksgiving is stuffing. I’m addicted to stuffing!”

Sarah:

“My favorite things about Thanksgiving are spending time with family, deviled eggs, and the ultimate Thanksgiving dish: chicken and dumplings. I can’t wait!”

Natalie M.:

“I’ve always remembered Thanksgiving as being a day filled with family and lots of food! My birthday typically falls very close to the holiday so it’s always fun celebrating another year with my entire family.”

Jeff:

“Definitely eating…we eat a lot! We all gather around the table for lunch and everyone eats their fill. After that we put on a movie and generally fall asleep. After the greatest nap ever, we always have Turkey sandwiches. One of my favorite days of the year!”

Leslie:

“My family does a potluck dinner for Thanksgiving so every year I look forward to seeing what dish everyone brings.”

Natalie W.:

“What don’t I love about Thanksgiving? There’s the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, followed by the National Dog Show. Spending time with family, a feast of EPIC proportions—comprised of both traditional Thanksgiving dishes AND some of the best homemade Italian food in the entire Southeast, FOOTBALL, a Cornhole tournament…I could go on forever…”
