The iPhone5 arrived and it’s being hailed as “ the biggest thing to happen to iPhone since the iPhone”, according to Apple marketing Chief Phil Schiller. There’s some new features that have been added to make the phone quicker, sleeker, better, and trendier. The wider screen, thinner design, faster 4G speeds, and panoramic camera option are a few of the new additions we will all soon grow to love and become obsessed with. The cold hard truth is that the majority of us are in committed relationships with our smartphones. We can’t go anywhere without them and go through withdrawals if we are deprived of the chance to text, email, check-in, talk or, heaven forbid, tweet!

As a PR professional, you know that this industry is ever changing and fast paced. Staying on trend (if not ahead of it) is a must and accessibility is key. We’re always on the move and conduct the majority of our business from our phones. As much as we like to think we are Supermen and Superwomen, sometimes we need a little help keeping organized and keeping our heads on straight. Here are some free Apple friendly apps that every marketing pro or social media guru should utilize to help stay connected, organized and sane while on the go:

LinkedIn

Probably the most well known professional networking app out. It acts as a database to search through profiles and not only see who you would like to connect with, but who your colleagues recommend. Send and receive friend requests with the push of a finger as one way to start expanding your professional portfolio.

Pulse

Love this app! Pulse brings all your favorite publications to one place rather than having to visit ten different websites to get your news. Tailor your news stream to get the latest information from blogs, top news sources and social networks. Seamless, simple.

DropBox

Sometimes we aren’t always at our desks, and this app is perfect for those frantic days that we are out of the office. This is a must-have for anyone who needs to stay on top of things. Dropbox is a file sharing service that makes it easy to sync files across different computers, tablets, and devices without WiFi. Need to proof a release before it goes live while waiting on your morning coffee? Dropbox it, it’s a lifesaver.

Evernote

What would our industry be if it wasn’t for meetings? With so much information to remember, it’s difficult to read our own handwriting sometimes to see what we’re even talking about. Evernote makes it easier to take notes by making snapshots of images and typing descriptions under them. No more unorganized thoughts on a piece of paper.

CisionWire

This is like the go-to for anyone in the industry, and now it’s available to be the go-to mobile app. Browse contacts to build specialized lists to make for easy communication between you and the media. Filter between location, focus, topic, and outlet to find your ideal reach and point of contact. Create lists for easy searching or do a one-time sweep to find your perfect match. It’s like having having a huge database in the palm of your hand.

These are some apps we think help us remain productive. What are you using?
