On Friday, June 10, 2016, over 4,000 people of all ages from across Atlanta participated in the fourth annual Atlanta Moon Ride benefiting Bert’s Big Adventure, a local nonprofit organization. The festivities began at 6 p.m. in Piedmont Park, kicking off the fun-filled evening with live entertainment from Electric Avenue, delicious food options from local food trucks and a variety of beverage options courtesy of ShockTop and Tito’s Vodka.

As the sun started to set, a stunning glow took over Piedmont Park. Riders and their bikes were decorated with glow sticks and colorful lights. Attendees included The Bert Show’s hosts Bert Weiss, Kristin Klingshirn and Brian Moote, as well as City Councilmember Kwanza Hall who addressed attendees at the start of the evening.

At 11 p.m., everyone set out on the moon-lit cruise through some of Atlanta’s coolest neighborhoods, including Midtown, Ansley Park, Historic Old Fourth Ward, Morningside and the Virginia Highland. Participants rode their bikes at their own pace and onlookers cheered as they passed by.

One hundred percent of net proceeds from the night went directly to Bert’s Big Adventure, a nonprofit organization that takes children with chronic and terminal illnesses and their families on an all-expenses-paid trip to Walt Disney World. Each year, the Atlanta Moon Ride continues to get bigger and better. If you have never experienced this special Atlanta event, plan to participate in 2017!
