12.21.2012

According to numerous doomsday reports, December 21, 2012 is scheduled to be the end of the world.

If you are a believer in the theory that the Mayan calendar is coming to an end and that because of this some  Earth shattering event or huge global catastrophe is upon us, you’ll be bracing yourself for a very big day on Friday. Should you be a member of the Apocalyptic Prepardedness Team,  you’ve already built a ship to take refuge in the seas, secured an underground bunker and stocked up on enough candles and canned meat to make you the ultimate survivor. For those  of us who aren’t quite ready for the end of the world, here are some must have items to help us out in case of emergency:

Food, Water, Clothing & Shelter: Clean water, non perishable goods, warm clothes and a sturdy fortress are neccesities we need regardless of  a manmade disaster, natural disaster or the end of the world.

First Aid Kit: You never know what danger lies ahead—keep bandages, pain killers, burn cream and antibiotics among the list of essentials.

Accesories: Not purses and scarves, but items like battery operated appliances, cooking supplies, candles, sanitation needs, can openers and propane fuel.

Vehicles: Say transportation is still available in the dawn of the new world, make sure spare tires, extra fuel, jumper cables, repair kits and road flares are accessible.

Now, what if the world doesn’t end? What if it’s just a regular Friday and we still have to attend to our jobs and our other responsibilities? Well, then we’re in luck that all these items don’t expire! We can go back to our regularly scheuled programming and keep our survival kit handy for the next time the world is threatened. So bring it on December 21, 2012…or not, but whenever the world decides to end– we’ll be ready.
